Today we took a ride out to the Morgan Monroe State Park. It was a gorgeous day and even though we got a little lost - we bumped into Butler Winery so that was an added bonus! Rodney brought us back some really cool shirts so we were sportin' new threads. This summer is turning out to be a blast being able to ride together. Click on image for a larger view. |
This probably needs it's own category - but for now...here's a group shot from Wild Hogs 2. Last year after Rodney learned to ride, he went with his brother Ray and Ray's friend Gary out to North Carolina to see his brother Jeff. The took their bikes in a trailer last year, but this time they just rode. They spent a week together - riding the whole way there and back, plus rode while they were there. Someday I'll join him on that trip and we can ride the Blue Ridge Parkway together. From left to right - Jeff, Rodney, Ray, and Gary. Click on image for a larger view.

Well - here's our garden now at about 6-7 weeks after planting. Somebody needs to weed that baby! YIKES! Things are growing really well and FAST. We planted WAY too many tomatoes...lol...but I'm so happy that everything we started as seeds is doing so well. Our corn will easily be "knee high by the 4th of July!"

We've been enjoying spending time with my parents this past week and now it's time for them to go back home. My Mom had this cute idea for this photo and I love it! We only get to see them once a year so we really treausre the time, but it always goes by way too fast. Click on image for a larger view. |

Happy Belated Mother's Day! It's becoming a tradition to plant our garden on Mother's Day and I love it! Elly jumps in and wants to help and that makes it even more special. Here's the lineup of what we planted yesterday: From seeds we planted 2 rows of corn, bush beans and sugar snap peas. From plants we have several kinds of tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, onions, zucchini, and cucumber. Click on image for a larger view.

Rodney found a bird's nest in his helmet on Sunday! We've had this wren in the barn that is determined to make it home. First, I believe she tried building her nest in some trays in my office (I had neglected to close the door one night!) so she tried again only here. Rodney rode the bike Friday so it had to have happened sometime between then and late Saturday. I'm glad he found it before she laid her eggs in it! Click on image for a larger view.
I found a few blooms of squirrel corn Saturday night while Elly and Rodney were at their dance. I can't describe how beautiful this flower smells - but it's delightful! It's in bloom for such a short period - sometime during April/May and I was glad to get a photo of it this year. I'd love to grow more of this around the house. It has a funny name - but it's really pretty. Click on image for a larger view.
Last night was the Girl Scouts Father/Daughter dance! Rodney and Elly got all dressed up - don't they look fabulous? Of course, I had to make them match. I was really impressed with Elly's choice of dress. It's not what I thought she would pick and I was surprised at her choice of something elegant and beautiful. She looks stunning and had a wonderful time with her Daddy. Click on image for a larger view.

Kathy and I have been participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for the last two years. This year, Elly joined us for the 5K walk! She made it, too - and I'm so proud of her! We have to go take a nap now, because tonight is the big Father/Daughter dance! What a day!! Click on image for a larger view.
It's Friday night! Time to go out and have a martini...or just stay home and make a martini card. Martini Girl is a new stamp from DogGone Stamps and she's HOT! Click on image for a larger view.
You'll probably see more photos of this in our home projects category - but I wanted to show this one for now anyways. Rodney started this project on Sunday and so far it's gorgeous! It's really changed the entryway to our home and already it feels more inviting. We'll be able to plant some flowers and small bushes out front and maybe I will finally get one of those little flags you can change with the seasons. I've always liked those. Anyways - this is just a sneak peek for now! Click on image for a larger view.

So my class is coming up and I needed a pair of riding boots. Not just any riding boots would do, though. I went to the dealer where the class is to be held and found these beauties. I was high on the smell of new leather the whole way home! Aren't they gorgeous? Hubby was cool and even gave me a coupon he earned which put these at almost half price. The sales lady also knocked off another 10% for the class so I got a pretty good deal. Ride On! Click on image for a larger view.

We decided to go on a pay as you go plan with Verizon so I got a new phone! It's the Samsung Juke and it's pretty cool - plus I love the color! I don't use my cell all that much so we should be able to save more money this way. I'll be able to load up my music or practice Spanish while on the go. Click on image for a larger view.

We got rain most of the day, but the sun broke through towards the end and Rodney spotted this gorgeous rainbow outside. It may be hard to make out - but it crossed the sky and you could see each end pretty well. Elly had never seen a rainbow before so this was quite a treat! Click on image for a larger view.
